Week 4: Analogous & Complementary Photos

This is my analogous photo, with the yellow, yellow-green, green colors in it. Flowers seem to be a common theme for my assignments, but I'm getting alot of great shots by using them.

I couldn't decide if this was a complementary or monochrome photo, just because there was alot more of the red than green, I guess it could go either way? There is nothing too special about this picture, but I really liked how the light fell on the bench, I guess thats why I chose to use this one.

  1. I am a big fan of the bench. It has that old Vermont feel to it. I like how it goes from red to white-ish to green. It actually really brings out the green in the back. I would say it is complmentary over monochrome. The green does really stand out in the back, but it really doesn't matter cause its a great photo anyway.

  2. The bench shot is great. I love the deep, bright red. And with the little bit of green from the grass...it really is a nice shot. The flower is so pretty. That is the nice things about flowers. They are so easy and pretty to photograph. The background of the flower photo is different with the cement wall, but it adds to photo and makes a nice shot.

  3. Love the bench and I would guess that we can call something monochrome as long as the predominant color is just one tone. Your angle on the picture is what really makes this work.

  4. The bench is complimentary. The photo has to be completely one color or tone in order to be considered monochromatic. Mono = One, Chroma = Color

It is a fantastic photo nonetheless.

If you moved your perspective so that you blocked out any other colors, it would be right on.

  5. The bench shot was really creative. The light source on the bench adds to the picture. Nice job on this assignment.

  8. The bench photo is really great, from a cool angle. It's really cool that I can see the texture of the paint on the wooden bench and the fact that the red is so powerful.
