Framing Slide Show--Week 5

I had a lot of fun taking pictures for this assignment. It made me really see how many things out there are framed or could be framed. Enjoy =)

Rule of Thirds

The first photo is of the flower centered and the second one is using the rule of thirds. I think both photos are really nice, however I like the second one better because both flowers aren't dead center, but follows the rule of thirds. After taking several photos and trying to decide which ones to use, it occurred to me that every object doesn't have to be in the center, and that by using the rule of thirds, photos may not only look better, but can also be more powerful and have a deeper meaning (I couldn't figure out how to keep them side-by-side....sorry!).

Week 5: Composition & Photography

www.amateursnapper.com/photography/10-top-photography-composition-rules

The address above it has many different examples of composition styles that can be used to help enhance a photo. My favorite two were leading lines and symmetry/patterns. The two photos that were givien as examples were powerful images and the composition style used really enhanced that quality of the photo. The different composition styles I learned are tools that I am going to take into consideration from this point on when taking photos for assignments.

Week 4 Continued: LiGhT pHoToS

This first of the three light photos was taken at 8:00 in the morning. Although it's a decent picture, there are really no exciting aspects of light in it, such as shadows or light shining on the grass of tress that impact the picture.

This picture was taken around 5:30 in the evening when the sun was in full mode. There are many shadowns of the trees and the light is shining on the trees, making them much more green in color than the first photo.

Lastly, this photo was taken after the sun went down for the night. I took this picture from a different angle---behind the tree instead. In this photo, you can see that the lack of light played a big role in the photo, making it appear much darker, especially the tree, and not so exciting. However, the hint of blue in the sky is a nice touch.

Week 4: Analogous & Complementary Photos

This is my analogous photo, with the yellow, yellow-green, green colors in it. Flowers seem to be a common theme for my assignments, but I'm getting alot of great shots by using them.

I couldn't decide if this was a complementary or monochrome photo, just because there was alot more of the red than green, I guess it could go either way? There is nothing too special about this picture, but I really liked how the light fell on the bench, I guess thats why I chose to use this one.

Week 3: Macro Collage

This week has been especially challenging trying to get this assignemnt done due to the rain and myself being on crutches due to a fractured foot and toe. Even tho I couldn't get some of the close ups and different angles I wanted, I did get a lot of great shots and am satisfied with the finished product!

For this assignment, I decided to use flowers from my moms garden. Out of the 9 or so pictures I took, the first one is my favorite. The color came out so well, I love the view/angle of the picture, and I was even able to capture the rain droplets on the flower without the picture being blurry. Not to mention, there are lots of fine details of the flower captured in the picture. Gotta love auto-focus!!

Although my focus was on capturing a different angle of the flower, which was achieved, I like this picture because the focus isn't soley on the flower anymore, but also whats in the background of the flower. I really didn't like this picture at first, but after looking at it for awhile, it definitely grew on me because of the upward angle of it I think and the background.
