Week 11: Portraits
For this photo, I didn't have any difficulties capturing it. My cousin, who is in the photo, was playing with my brother, so I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pictures of him while he was being silly. and I liked this one the best...he's not posed or is he faking a smile or something like that. I don't even think he new I was taking his picture.
I absolutely love this portrait because it is completely natural, its easy to look at, but at the same time it's sweet. I think the best portrait photos are the ones that are completely unexpected and not forced.

Dodge/Burn & Filters
Before...
After.....This is the photo I dodged and burned. To fix the photo, I not only played around with increasing the contrast a little, but I burned both the sky and the mountains, which made the pink/gold/yellow-ish colors of the sky stand out alot more than in the original photo. I also burned the mountains to be just about black because I liked how it looked against the colors in the sky.
This is the first filter fix I did. I used the soft glow filter, along with using the canvas filter setting. I also increased the contrast a little and decreased the brightness, giving the photo this outcome. I like the soft glow filter because it gives the photo a soft touch to it and doesn't make it unusual or harsh. This is one of my favorite photos so far this summer.
For this photo, I applied the canvas and ripple setting. Although it may be hard to tell that filters where applied to the photo, they in fact were. I wasn't a fan of very many of the filters in Gimp. A lot of them were crazy and unusal and didn't like how they looked when applied to my photos. Sometimes something simple is better!

Color Fix
This is one of my most favorite pictures I have because I think it's "calming" in a way. I babysit my friends daughter quite often and we went up to my family's camp recently and she just sat down on the dock for the longest time and watched the waves and the boats...it was the cutest thing ever. To fix the color of the photo, I increased the saturation and hue a little bit, but lightened it just a tad. By doing that, the colors in her shirt and crocs stand out alot more, more than they did in the original photo. Also, the water now has more of a blue-ish color to it, where as before, it had a charcol tint to it.
This is another favorite photo of mine. I used it on a previous assignment, but started playing around with fixing the colors and I loved the end result. I decreased the lightness and increased the saturation. I also increased the cyan color level and decreased the magenta color level a bit. The end result was that the rainbow was alot brighter and the clouds have a little more color to them and stand out more. You can also see a little of the blue sky within the clouds now.

Landscapesss
I had a lot of great landscape shots, however I've had the hardest time uploading them to blogger this week...thats why I'm posting these kind of late, and only three of them. My favorite of the three posted above is the one of the double rainbow. I was on my way home last Tuesday evening when one of my neices yelled "Look there's a rainbow!" So I pulled over and got a couple shots of it. Thought it was pretty neat!

Framing Slide Show--Week 5
I had a lot of fun taking pictures for this assignment. It made me really see how many things out there are framed or could be framed. Enjoy =)
